Care Tips:
- Light: Crotons need bright light to maintain there vibrant colors. Bright, indirect light is best. Some direct morning sun is acceptable, but avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves. Insufficient light will cause the colors to fade and the plant to become leggy.
- Watering: The self-watering pot is essential! Keep the reservoir filled. The soil should be consistently moist, but not soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Crotons are sensitive to both overwatering and underwatering.
- Humidity: Crotons thrive in high humidity. Mist the plant regularly, especially in dry indoor environments. A pebble tray with water or a humidifier is highly recommended.
- Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures (70-85°F / 21-29°C). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F (15°C). Sudden temperature changes can cause leaf drop.
- Soil: Well-draining potting mix. Our self-watering pot system ensures proper drainage.
- Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced, liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring/summer). Reduce or eliminate fertilizing in winter.
